Rugby Competitions in Different Countries

Here in South Africa rugby is the national sport of the country. Unlike soccer rugby is only being played in a few countries, and one of them is South Africa.A rugby team is made up of fifteen players, playing in different positions on the rugby field. Rugby is being played from school level until a player reach the age of about 35, but it all depends on the condition of the body of the player and his performance at that stage.The success of a rugby team depends on the training of a coach. A team who is well trained in all aspects of the game is in the best position to win a game.There is a big difference between rugby at school level, club level, provincial level and international level. For instance a player who performs well at provincial level does no necessarily perform well at International level.From February each year until May the super 14 competition takes place in three different countries namely South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Every team plays matches in different cities in his own country as well as in cities in the other countries. Every match can be regarded as equal to test rugby. At the end of the competition the team who ends on top of the log receives the trophy.Apart from the super 14 competition there is also the Three nation competition, that is tests between South Africa, Australia and New Zealand . Players from the super 14 teams are selected to play in the test matches between the three countries.Test matches are also being played against other countries like The British Isles, France, Italy and Argentina.Every four years a competition takes place in a certain country between all the rugby playing countries to determine which country will go away with the world trophy.Information gathered from watching television, newspapers and magazines.
